Screenshot of the Day
At least a few times per week, I'll try to take "screenshots" of my computer so you can see "behind the scenes" on some of the projects that are being worked on. Obviously with most projects, including this one, I am unable to provide complete access to the work since they're held private until released to the public by the parties involved. But, I can try my best to give you little sneak peaks here and there. This project is a fun one, and is something that you'd never expect for an industry you'd never think I'd be working with. Any guesses?

HERO Poster Series - Martin Luther King, Jr.
"This...honors the courage of a man who endured harassment, threats and beatings, and even bombings. We commemorate the man who went to jail 29 times to achieve freedom for others, and who knew he would pay the ultimate price for his leadership, but kept on marching and protesting and organizing anyway." - Excerpt from his wife, Coretta Scott King's, speech on MLK Day

Due to his influence that can be seen in our everyday lives, Martin Luther King, Jr. was selected as the first installment of the "HERO" poster series. It seemed fitting to launch his HERO poster on the day when his National Memorial will be introduced to the public in Washington DC.

Joe Buys: Rock the Rapids Documentary [Trailer]
Here's a sneak peak of what's to come from the "Joe Buys: Rock the Rapids" mini-documentary. The full version will be released at a 'yet to be determined' date in September.
Download the newest Joe Buys album, "I Keep it on My Sleeve" at www.joebuysmusic.com
Oh, and those shoes you may have gotten a glance at, the retro Jordan III, those don't come out for another month. You LITERALLY cannot buy those at ANY store. For all the sneakerheads out there, here's a little bite to wet your appetite...

Kalamazoo Custom AF1
If you did, or do, go to my GVSU, then you're good on my list. In this case, this guy was so good that before he leaves to go to Spain for the next 4 months, he requested a pair of custom-designed sneakers to take on the trip with him. A Grand Valley State University student that hails from Kalamazoo, he wanted to stay connected to his roots, especially while across the globe. In case he ever gets homesick, he can always look down at the streets he grew up on and feel right at home...

Video of the Day - Danny Macaskill, Industrial Revolutions
This is nuts. I feel like a nervous mother watching these tricks. How does he not die, or worse (according to Adrienne), get so badly injured but NOT die...?
"Industrial Revolutions is the amazing new film from street trials riding star Danny Macaskill. Filmed and edited for Channel 4 ’s documentary Concrete Circus.
Industrial Revolutions sees Danny take his incredible bike skills into an industrial train yard and some derelict buildings.’ Filmed in the beautiful Scottish countryside Danny Macaskill’s latest film was directed by Stu Thomson (Cut Media/MTBcut) for Channel 4’s documentary Concrete Circus."

Jenny Meyer Pop Art
Thanks to Pinterest, I recently discovered the artwork of Jenny Meyer. Immediately I was drawn to the simple, colorful, pop art styled paintings that showcase hints of childhood characters. These would look awesome on any modern home or office walls.

DOWNLOAD the design templates: designtemplates.zip
Event Info:
To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9-11-01, [Fashion Has Heart] has teamed up with the Mary Free Bed Wounded Warrior Project and Fifth-Third Bank to create "The Freedom Exhibit." This event will showcase 9-11 themed shirt designs, each screen-printed, framed, and displayed as a work of art. The 1-of-1 framed shirts will be sold through a silent auction following the conclusion of the week-long event. The proceeds will benefit the [Fashion Has Heart] nonprofit and the Mary Free Bed Wounded Warrior Project.
Art Requirements:
Shirt colors available are white, black or grey. Please specify when submitting your design.
The maximum number of colors that can be used in each design is TWO. If white ink is necessary for printing (if for instance you request a black or grey T-shirt) that needs to be considered one of the two colors allowable. Each color must be named and created on it’s own layer within the program used to create the design. If unique color matching is requested, please specify using the Pantone Matching System (PMS). We will attempt to match the color as closely as possible. A halftone image is acceptable.
Imprint Areas:
13.5 inches wide x 15 inches high is the MAXIMUM print area with a MINIMUM WIDTH of 6” OR a MINIMUM HEIGHT of 9”.
Digital Requirements:
Files must be submitted in one of the following file formats: .ai, .pdf, .eps or .psd or risk potential file rejection.
Preferred software used to generate file: Adobe Illustrator CS4 or older, Adobe Photoshop CS4 or older, Macromedia Freehand 10 or older and Corel Draw (export files as “ai”).
All text must be converted to outlines.
Artwork created in Photoshop or other paint programs should be manipulated for separation purposes if unique colors are required. If submitted, this file format may be rejected if not set-up properly.
All files should be at 100% and have a resolution of 300 dpi or greater.
Reasons for Rejection of Art:
Design contains too many colors.
Design is too large, too small or too low a resolution.
Design was not submitted in a proper program or format.
Design contains copyrighted material.
Design contains inappropriate content.

Adidas "Originals" Video
Adidas just released this short video about their Originals campaign. Definitely a big 80's and early 90's feel to it with the bold colors and imagery. They live off their classics, that's no doubt.
There's one in every crowd, yet no two are the same. They're authentics. One of a kinds. All shapes, all sizes, all unique. They're the ones that stand out. They're the ones that flow freely. And they're all united in Originality.

Thermal Barefoot Custom Shoe Project
To commemorate the launch and instant popularity of the Merrell Barefoot shoe line, I worked with a great team of people to showcase the artistic process of taking the blank Barefoot shoe to adding the imagery of a thermal heat image of a barefoot. Thanks to Spencer Covey, Adam Bird, Allie Merrick, and Steven Hollowell for making it all possible. Also, an additional thank you to the great people at Merrell and Grid70.

Might Need a Haircut?
Before:

After:

In reality, this shouldn't be a big deal, at all. But somehow since I've had short hair ALL of my life, it's kinda a big little deal. I've even been to gatherings with family and friends where people didn't even recognize me at first, haha. It's been over two months of not cutting my hair whereas normally, I'd cut it every week. Now, 9 weeks without touching it, I don't know what to do anymore.
So, I pose this open-ended question: What should I do with my hair now? (Leave your suggestion below in the comment section)

(Kinda reminiscent from February 2010)

Right outside the office, they're doing some construction on the railroad. It's amazing what machines can do, but don't tell John Henry that...

HELP: New Business Card Options
I am requesting your assistance on this one...
Hard to believe, but I'm in need of some new business cards. My stock pile is completely empty other than a few laying around in hidden places here and there. It's hard for me to decide by myself, so I'm reaching out for your input.
(Please forgive any "blurry'ness" of the font on the cards - that's just because they're large print-ready files that were needed to be shrunk down to fit the image)

Which card would you like most to receive?
