Road Trip Denver, Part 1: Majestic Alien Creatures

Part 1 of the road trip took us to Omaha, Nebraska, the half-way point to Denver. From Grand Rapids, it's a 10 hour drive, then another 9 hours to Denver. Let the fun begin...

Not bad gas milage for an AWD Subaru Impreza. Unfortunately, once the speed limit was increased from 55MPH and 65MPH up to 75MPH, we gradually reduced that MPG rating to around the 29-30MPG range. The scenery was expected: corn fields. What surprised me the most was the amount of wind turbine farms scattered across the plains. They were part majestic, part alien. I'm not sure if it was because there was literally nothing else to look at, but I was pretty much mesmerized with these gentle giant energy creators.
Next stop: OMAHA! Yee-haw!
