Yeah, it's a 3-hour drive from Grand Rapids, but it's hard to consider Detroit as a road trip since I grew up not too far outside of it in Brighton. But I'm telling you, these last few days, I've prolly put about 1,000 miles on Ole' Reliable. I've driven to and thru and around all areas of Detroit it seems, and I'm not even half done with what I have to do.
Friday I spent the day with my mentor (Worldwide Wes) and his family. The more time I spend with him, the more I continue to gain a greater and greater amount of respect for him. There's a reason why myself and an elite list of others call him Uncle Wes. That night the Hornets were in town. After a great game (Pistons won in OT), I was able to catch up with Chris Paul. CP3 is another of those people that the more I get to know, the greater amount of respect I gain. He's a great, great dude.
Saturday I traveled around the metro Detroit area to a few sneaker boutiques to sell them on the Rip City apparel collaboration project I've mentioned previously. Their responses were nothing but positive; they loved the designs, quality, and purpose of the shirts. As you can imagine, I was happy to hear all of that from them. Out of these initial and brief meetings, we actually connected on a collab project with one of the stores - expect to see some fresh product with them and the T.Way brand very soon. After stopping thru these stores, the Pistons had another game (and earned another victory, this time over the Knicks) that night. Afterwards I met up with Rip real quickly to get on the same page with the project and show him the new samples - which he also loved, yet another report of good news to my ears!
It looks like I'll be in Detroit for a few more days to do a lot more selling and meeting with a bunch of different stores, so I'll be sure to keep an active account of such. My reasoning for sharing so much with you is that I want you to share in my experiences. All of this is an adventure that I love exploring and I really want to share it with you. I'm trying to keep a daily journal of brief notes, daily goals, accomplishments, or things I still need to complete. I'm trying my best to keep an active record because I'm sure some day we will be able to look back at it and laugh. There is no doubt in my mind that this company is on the verge of breaking out, and I want you to be there with us! LET'S GO get it.
Praise God and carry on.
